Located on a pedestrian street Les Halles quarter, the Hôtel du Cygne has the feel of a provincial hotel. With a Louis Philippe writing desk and various nick-nacks, the rooms in the reception area resemble those of a private house. The stairway (there is no elevator) has retained its original 17th-century half-timbering. While the carpeting is brand-new, the wall covering deserves to be changed (the two charming sisters who have taken over the hotel will no doubt consider it). The pleasure of personalizing the rooms is shown in an antique piece of furniture or painting. The rooms are of reasonable size on the whole, number 35 is the largest (it easily sleeps 3), and our favorite remains Room 41. Generally speaking, in this district one had better sleep on the courtyard side, even though the street is pedestrian. The bathrooms are still quaint, but the price takes that into account, and the whole effect does not lack charm
